VIDEO

From behind the camera.

(Heart)Broken Record

This is a silent film I shot as part of a team, telling a short, bittersweet story of a newly single young man's reminiscing on better days with his love - better days he can't get back, the memories and present day distinguished with different colours of light.

We all lit and shot this together in a single day, and it's a good showcase of what we can get done in a short amount of time and without using words.

Interview with Warren Cariou

I shot this at the McNally Robinson bookstore in Winnipeg the night of the book launch for the second edition of Elements of Indigenous Style. Warren, a lead editor for the book, was excellent to interview and this was a good example of my interpersonal communication skills and interviewing clients.

PCPartPicker Explainer

An explainer-style advertisement for PCPartPicker, a website made to help people build and purchase their own gaming computer rigs, written by and starring the talented Brendan Labarre, while I handled the lighting, camera work, editing and voiceover. Brendan was a great actor for the video and his scriptwriting facilitated a lot of opportunities for me to get creative and have some fun with the videomaking process.

EDITING

Less glamorous than camera work, but just as crucial.

Colour Correction (ft. LUTs)

This is primarily an example of my colour correction skills. The video plays three times over, showing the footage as it originally appeared first, with basic correction second, and correction with a LUT applied third. I did all this with Adobe Premiere Pro's colour correction system.

I always enjoy doing this. It's a very satisfying process that helps your footage pop.

WRITING

The power of words.

Lost In Translation

My story for Working Draft 2025. In this story, I talk about the recent surging investment in
AI-generated translation for Japanese manga and anime in the last two years, weighing the good and the bad of such a thing against each other, featuring insights and opinions from various people I interviewed personally.

The story is live on Working Draft right now. I'd highly recommend listening along to it.

Animal Lovers

Content warnings for violence and coarse language.

The screenplay for a 10-minute short film, telling a bloody, harrowing story of one timid man braving the war-torn streets of his city to save his dog's life. It's a good example of my ability to tell a complete story in a short amount of time.
